Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - Coming off a 6-1 win the previous night against North Central, the Bethany Lutheran College men's soccer team was looking to keep the momentum rolling. They did just that with a 3-2 road win against UMAC foe Northwestern.
Northwestern got off to a hot start initially with a goal in the 12th minute to gain a 1-0 lead.
They took that lead into halftime, but soon thereafter Bethany answered. Freshman
Austin Eliason erased the deficit with a penalty kick to tie the game at one goal a piece in the 46th minute. Senior midfielder
Juan Garcia, coming off a two-goal performance the night before, scored on another penalty kick in the 58th minute for a 2-1 lead. Just two minutes later,
Benjamin Moldstad added to the lead with a goal of his own, putting the Vikings up 3-1. Northwestern wouldn't go down quietly though, as they quickly answered with a goal in the 63rd minute to cut the Viking lead to 3-2. The Vikings were able to hold off the Eagles charge, however, and pull off a 3-2 victory.
The BLC men's soccer team looks to keep the momentum rolling in their next game on Tuesday at Carleton.
