MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany men's and women's tennis teams defeated North Central University last month in Minneapolis. Friday, in the home opener at the BLC Tennis Courts, the Vikings beat the Rams again with the men winning 6-3 and the women 9-0.
For the men, the Vikings won three of their singles matches in straight sets. After winning the first set at No. 2 singles,
Troy Hoyord won his match after his opponent retired.
Jason Buechler defeated Alex Bird 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and
Paul Riediger beat Joshua Lee 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
In doubles, Hoyord and Buechler topped Ian and Alex Bird 8-6.
On the women's side, BLC won four of their six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1 singles,
Marissa Teems only lost one game as did
Ashley Stahl at No. 4.
Anna Wiechmann won her match at No. 5 7-5, 7-5 and
Jordan Feis, playing in her first match of the season, beat her opponent 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles, all three Bethany's team won their matches 8-2.
