Men win third in a row, set program record

MANKATO, Minn. - When they became a Division III program in 2005, the Bethany men's tennis team had never won three contests in a row. That changed Saturday at the BLC Tennis Courts when the Vikings topped Minn.-Morris to win their third straight dual, 6-3.

Standing out for the men Friday and Saturday was Paul Riediger. He won both his singles and doubles matches against North Central and did the same on Saturday to cap a perfect weekend. He defeated Brian Nyakunzi at No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-2 and teamed with Zach Carlson to win at No. 3 doubles 10-8.

Jacob Kubler won at No. 1 singles in three sets while Troy Hoyord and Carlson won their matches in straight sets. Hoyord and Jason Buechler eeked out a win at No. 2 doubles 9-7.

Bethany moves to 4-2 in UMAC play and have another conference match in store for Tuesday at Martin Luther.
