LAKEVILLE, Minn. - In matches moved to Lifetime Fitness Center in Lakeville from Bethany due to rain, the Bethany men's and women's tennis teams put an end to the regular season against Martin Luther. The men came away with a 6-3 win while the women fell 6-3.
The men's team finished 6-4 in conference play and has qualified for the UMAC Postseason Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will play Northwestern Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. The women's tennis season comes to an end with a 2-8 UMAC record and fifth place finish.
On Monday for the men,
Jacob Kubler and
Troy Hoyord were double winners for the Vikings. Kubler defeated Jordan Bence in two tiebreaking sets at No. 1 singles and Hoyord beat Micah Koelpin 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. At No. 1 doubles, Kubler teamed with
Ryan Koch to beat Bence and Marty Johnston 8-5 and Hoyord and
Jason Buechler topped Koelpin and Kris Kuschel 8-2.
Zach Carlson and
Paul Riediger easily won their singles matches.
For the women,
Marissa Teems and
Morgan Schwarz were double winners. At No. 1 doubles, they combined to defeat Jacqueline Keller and Carissa Kock 8-3. At No. 1 singles, Teems beat Keller 6-1, 6-2 and at No. 2 singles, Schwarz topped Kock in a third set tiebreaker 10-8.
