Men's Tennis Earns First Victory of Season
OWATONNA, Minn. – On Saturday, the men's tennis team traveled to the Owatonna Tennis Club for two non-conference matches against Ripon College and Simpson College. In the first match of the day, the Vikings defeated Ripon 9-0 to earn their first victory of the 2016 season.
Bethany 9, Ripon 0The Vikings swept all six singles matches with
Brent Heflin and
Jacob Kubler leading the way at the number one and number two singles spots on the lineup card.
Dalton Werckman,
Jason Buechler, and
Dexter Jackson each won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Jordan Poff also earned a default win for the Vikings.
Heflin and
Kubler teamed up for an easy 8-2 win at the number one doubles spot while
Werckman and
Buechler won their match at the number two doubles position, 8-2 as well.
Jackson and
Poff earned a default match win to close out the victory over Ripon.
Simpson 5, Bethany 4In a very close, competitive match it was Simpson that came out on top at the Owatonna Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon.
Buechler and
Jackson earned match wins in singles competition for the Vikings. In doubles, Simpson won the first match before Bethany took the final two matches.
Kubler and
Buechler earned an 8-0 win while
Jackson and
Robbie Stevens won 8-4.
The Vikings will return to the courts on February 27
th against Edgewood in Madision, Wis. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
