Bethany Tennis Successful in Conference Opener

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The Bethany Tennis teams opened up the 2016 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference schedule on Friday night against the North Central Rams. Both the men's and women's team defeated the Rams in UMAC action.

Men's Tennis: Bethany Lutheran 8, North Central 1Bethany started the conference season off on the right foot, earning a conference victory over the Rams.
Brent Heflin (Sioux Falls, S.D.),
Jacob Kubler (Shakopee, Minn.),
Dalton Werckman (Foley, Minn.),
Jason Buechler (Kasson, Minn.),
Dexter Jackson (Chicago, Ill.), and
Andrew Jelken (Luverne, Minn.) each had a match victory in singles competition.

In doubles competition,
Heflin and
Werckman along with
Jelken and
Jackson teamed up for a doubles victory over the Rams on Friday night.

Women's Tennis: Bethany Lutheran 9, North Central 0Like the men's team, the Vikings took care of business in the opening act of the 2016 UMAC season, defeating North Central in convincing fashion. Earning match wins for Bethany was
Taylor Nordhausen (St. James, Minn.),
Alicia Kranz (Arlington, Minn.),
Megan Braatz (Sun Prairie, Wis.),
Justine Bennett (River Falls, Wis.),
Sabrina Batalden (Anoka, Minn.), and
Madalyn Elmquist (South St. Paul, Minn.).
In doubles competition,
Nordhausen and
Kranz along with
Braatz and
Ryana Sadaka (Mankato, Minn.) won the first two matches for Bethany.
Kaitlyn Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and
Justine Bennett rounded out the 9-0 victory for the Vikings.

The women's team (2-8) will have a quick turnaround with a match tomorrow against Saint Mary (Neb.) at the Owatonna Tennis Club starting at 11 a.m. The men's team (2-8) will next take on Midland University on April 2
nd at the Owatonna Tennis Club.
