Bethany Tennis in Action on Sunday

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany tennis teams were in action on Sunday, playing non-conference matches against Gustavus Adolphus and Wisconsin Lutheran. The men's team played both the Gusties and Warriors while the women's team only played the Warriors.

Men's Tennis
Gustavus Adolphus 9, Bethany Lutheran 0:
The Vikings dropped a non-conference match to the #19 nationally ranked Gusties at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Gusties are 20-7 on the season and 3-6 against nationally ranked opponents this season.

Bethany Lutheran 5, Wisconsin Lutheran 4:
In the second match of the day, the Vikings defeated the Warriors in a tightly contested match.
Jason Buechler (Kasson, Minn.) won his singles match 6-2, 6-0 while
Dexter Jackson (Chicago, Ill.) and
Robbie Stevens (Cathedral City, Calif.) won by default. In doubles competition,
Jackson and
Jacob Kubler (Shakopee, Minn.) teamed up for a match victory.
Brent Heflin (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and
Andrew Jelken (Luverne, Minn.) won the final doubles match by default.

The Vikings record stands at 5-12 overall and 3-2 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Women's Tennis
Wisconsin Lutheran 6, Bethany Lutheran 3:
Alicia Kranz (Arlington, Minn.) and
Madalyn Elmquist (South St. Paul, Minn.) won their singles match on Sunday afternoon at the BLC Tennis Courts.
Elmquist also teamed up with
Justine Bennett (River Falls, Wis.) for a number two doubles match victory.

The women's tennis record this season falls to 3-14 overall and 2-3 in conference.
