Box Score 2 Lakeville, Minn. – The BLC men's tennis team played two matches at the Lifetime Fitness center in Lakeville on Saturday. The Vikings (2-3) won two non-conference matches against Martin Luther (0-2) and Simpson College (3-2).
Against MLC, the men's tennis team picked up their first win of the season in a close match, winning by a score of 5-4. The Vikings picked up three wins at the singles positions and two in doubles.
Laine Larson had a good day for the Vikings against MLC, playing the top spot and beating his opponent 6-0, 6-2. Carter Dahl added another win for the Vikings at the third singles position, beating his opponent 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5). Kenny Johnson gave the Vikings a clutch win at the sixth spot, 6-2, 6-1.
The duo of Laine Larson and Dalton Werckman defeated MLC at the top doubles spot by a score of 8-4. The Vikings got their final win at the second doubles spot from Carter Dahl and Dexter Jackson, 8-6.
In match two, the men picked up another win after beating Simpson College, 5-4. Again, the Vikings collected three wins in the singles matches and two wins in the doubles matches.
Dalton Werckman won at the 2nd singles spot by a score of 6-2, 7-5. Carter Dahl won at the 3rd singles spot, 6-3, 7-5. Dexter Jackson helped the Vikings claim win number three in singles play by winning 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8).
The Vikings clinched the win against Simpson with two wins in their doubles matches. Laine Larson and Dalton Werckman went 2-0 on the day in doubles play after defeating their Simpson opponents 8-6. The duo of Carter Dahl and Dexter Jackson also had two wins on the day after beating Simpson 8-2.
Up Next: The men and women are both in action next Saturday, February 17th at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Both teams will play their first match against Hamline University at 11:30 AM. The men will follow with a second match against Dubuque at 3:30 PM and the women play Morningside in their second match at 3:30 PM.
