Box Score 2 Lakeville, Minn. – The BLC men's tennis team lost a pair of matches on Saturday at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville. The Vikings lost their first match to Grand View University 9-0 and lost a non-conference match against UW-Superior 5-4.
The doubles combinations of Laine Larson/Dalton Werckman and Carter Dahl/Dexter Jackson at one and two respectively gave Grand View their toughest tests. Both duos won five games against their opponents, but didn't have enough for the win. The Vikings got swept at the singles positions as well, giving Grand View a 9-0 win.
The Vikings competed well against the Yellowjackets in their second match of the day. Dalton Werckman picked up a win at the second singles position for the Vikings, beating his opponent 6-0, 2-6, and 10-6 in a third set super tiebreaker. Dexter Jackson gave the Vikings a win at the third position, winning in a third set super tiebreaker 11-9. Kenny Johnson also picked up a win in singles at the sixth position by scores of 6-2, 6-3. The last win against the Yellowjackets came from the team of Laine Larson and Dalton Werckman at the number one doubles position. Larson and Werckman won their doubles match by a score of 8-4. The Vikings showed improvement in their second match, losing to the Yellowjackets 5-4.
Up Next: The Vikings have some time off before their next set of matches on Saturday, March 17th against Buena Vista and Mount Marty. Those matches will be held in Owatonna, Minn. at the Owatonna Tennis Center.
