Conference Championships Next for Bethany Lutheran

BECKER, Minn.---The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is ready for an exciting three days of action at the Women's Golf Championship set to begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. The tournament runs Oct. 7-9 with the winner earning the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Championship in May 2022.

Here's some of the key information to know before play begins Thursday:

2020-21 Championship Highlights
  • The 2020 Championship was conducted in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The University of Northwestern is the top returning program from the spring Championship after finishing as runner up with a score of 1147 (+283).
  • Mattie Krause led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish while the three other finishers for the Eagles placed in the top 20.
  • Nine women who earned All-UMAC or All-UMAC Honorable Mention honors are back for their respective teams this season. 

2021 Season Highlights
  • For the first time since 2008, Northwestern won the UMAC Preview event by eight strokes over the University of Minnesota Morris.  
  • Northwestern has won all seven events it has played this season.
  • Five UMAC teams have at least one player ranked in the top 15 for UMAC scoring this season.
