OWATONNA, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's tennis team kicked off their Spring season Saturday with a 5-4 victory over Cornell. With the win the Vikings improve to 2-1 on the year while the Rams fall to 2-2.

"It was a solid way to start the season," said head coach Tony Boehler. "No. 2, 3, and 5 singles came up really big for us. First match of the spring is always good because now we each know what we need to work on moving forward."

The Vikings were solid in singles play, getting wins from Heitor Damaso at No. 2, Stepan Chernegov at No. 3 and Caue Ribeiro at No. 5. With each team winning three singles matches, it was the doubles that made the difference, with the Vikings claiming No. 1 and No. 3. Marcos Borobia Arias and Damaso took the win at No. 1, while Chernegov and Kyle Deyo took the win at No. 3.
