Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team hosted Minnesota Morris on Thursday night and came away with a 6-0 win. With the win the Vikings improve to 6-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the UMAC while the Cougars fall to 2-11 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
It was a slow start for both teams, as the first goal of this one would come midway through the first frame as
Guilherme Gancho would knock home a goal on a cross from
Bryan Jaimes for the 1-0 edge.Â
That would be the only goal of the frame though, as the Vikings would outshoot Morris 11-2 in the half and lead 1-0 at the break.Â
It didn't take long for the Vikings to get the scoring started in half two though, as Jaimes would take a pass from
Diogo Cavalcanti up the right side and chip it up and over the goalie who was coming out for the 2-0 lead just three minutes into the half.
Vasco Sotomayor would then make the score 3-0 as he fired a shot off a corner kick that would deflect off a Morris defender and into the net.Â
Cavalcanti, who assisted on the first two goals of the second half, would then net his first goal of the game as he would take a through ball from
Daniel Almeida for the 4-0 lead.Â
Raheem Graham would then net two goals in the 69th and 77th minute for the Vikings as they would claim the 6-0 win.Â
Nick Lundberg got the win in net, making two saves in the victory.
The Vikings will be back in action next on Saturday when they host North Central for a 1 p.m. contest.Â
