NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethany cross country teams ran their third race in Northfield on Saturday, running in the St. Olaf Haunted Hustle on the Hill, marking the last race for the Vikings before the UMAC Championships in two weeks.

"I thought our team showed a lot of fight today. We are getting to the tough part of the season and have been dealing with some sickness and injuries." said Head Coach Dominic Santina. "However, a majority of our team ran faster on this course than a month ago."

The Bethany men kicked things off this morning, placing fourth overall with a total team score of 121. The Vikings were led by first-year Andreas Guessregen who continued his season with a time of 29:57.7, placing him 23rd. James Younge, the junior captain, finished with a time of 30:53.4, which placed him 28th. Then three freshmen closed out the Vikings' roster with August Weinstein placing 38th with another PR, running 32:12.3. Tanner Rosenthal followed closely in 42nd with a time of 32:33.5. Ben Matzke rounded out the roster with a huge PR, running 35:03.0 which was good enough for 49th overall.

The Viking women's race followed the men's on Saturday, where the team placed seventh overall with a score of 154. Campbell Amundson finished in 14th overall, pacing the Vikings with a time of 25:17.2. Sophomore Taryn Zellman followed with a season best time of 29:25.2, placing her 44th. Lauren Bauer ran a time of 30:47.7 which placed her in 48th. Juliana Ewald ran a PR with a time of 31:16.1, which placed her 50th overall. Gracelyn Malecek finished in 59th with a time of 35:02.3.

"Congrats to Ben Matzke, Juliana Ewald and August Weinstein for personal records today. James Younge and Taryn Zellman also had season best times today," Santina added.

The Vikings will continue their season on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the UMAC Championships.Â
