MANKATO, Minn. - In a rematch of last season's UMAC men's soccer playoff championship, Bethany suffered a 3-0 loss to UW-Superior on Saturday morning at Scheels Field. The Vikings drop to 4-5-2 overall and 4-1-0 in the UMAC, snapping a four-match win streak.Â
Liam Gosch fired a shot in the first two minutes of the game that barely missed wide left and the Vikings had the early momentum, but the Yellowjackets scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 10th minute off a corner kick. Superior maintained the one-goal lead at half as the Vikings held a 5-3 advantage in shots.Â
UW-Superior took control in the second half with goals in the 53rd and the 71st minutes while out-shooting the Vikings 8-3. The visitors finished with an 11-8 advantage in total shots and 6-2 on goal. Brady Price made three saves in goal for the Vikings.Â
The game was physical throughout with 28 combined fouls and 10 yellow cards.Â
