MANKATO, Minn. - The 2025-26 Bethany indoor track & field season kicked off Friday at the MSU-Mankato Chuck Peterson Open and featured a couple record-setting performances. Brandon Kellett set the men's program record in the pole vault while Sam Kedesch set the school record in the women's long jump.Â
Kellett's clearance of 12-3.5 broke the previous school record of 11-10.5, set by Josh Bruender in 2014. And Kedesch's leap of 17-4.25 broke the previous mark of 17-0.5, set by Stephanie Witbrod in 2023.Â
Besides the two school records, there were also four personal records set and six collegiate debuts at the meet.Â
"I thought it was a good opening meet," said Head Coach Dominic Santina. "Some really strong performances for openers. We all have some work to continue to see improvement. But a good meet to get our young team some college experience. We head into the break motivated to come out stronger in January."
Andreas Guessregen won the 1000-meter in 3:02.47 with Tanner Rosenthal taking second in 3:03.66. The Vikings had six men run the 60-meter prelims, led by Caleb Crawford in 7.43. Will Kaesermann ran the 60-hurdles in 9.68. Matthew Koosman finished the 200-meter in 23.93.Â
Bethany now breaks until Jan. 17 when it competes at the St. Olaf Ole Opener.Â
