SUPERIOR, Wis. - Bethany track & field returned to the Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse at UW-Superior for the second and final day of the UMAC Indoor Championships on Saturday. The women built on their successful first day, ending the day in sixth with 52 points. The Viking men managed to hold their position in fourth throughout the day, ending with 53 points.

Some day two standouts include Samantha Kedsch sweeping the horizontal jumps with a jump of 10.72 meters, landing her in first place in the triple jump. Next, Sarah Smith took eighth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.12 in the finals. The next points came from Campbell Amundson in the 800-meter, where her time of 2:25.37 managed to place her in fifth. Then, in the last event of the day, the women's 4x400 meter relay team placed fifth, as the team of Ping, Kedsch, Zellmann, and Amundson finished with a time of 4:31.41.

For the meet, the women saw many improvements on previous marks, with nearly 10 personal bests being set on the weekend. Sarah Smith set a new personal best in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.74 seconds. Zellmann and Hopp also set new bests in the 60-meter dash, with times of 8.43 and 8.64, respectively. Zellmann also managed to set a new PR in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.64, along with Amundson, who also set a new PR in the event with a 1:02.12. In the field, Katelynn Tortorella improved her weight throw mark to 11.96 meters, and Hopp set a new personal best in the long jump with a distance of 4.88 meters. Finally, Kedsch's conference winning mark of 10.72 meters in triple jump was also good enough to set a new personal record.

The scoring was kicked off by William Kaesermann in the 60-meter hurdles, where his time of 9.29 seconds was good enough for sixth. The next points on the track came from Ben Matzke in the 800-meter. His time of 2:03.15 placed him in fourth overall. Next, James Younge placed sixth in the 3000-meter run, with a time of 9:37.64. Finally, the men finished the meet with a fifth place 4x400 meter relay, in which Halvorson, Weinstein, Matzke, and Koosman ran a time of 3:46.19. In the field, the Vikings saw points in two events, pole vault and triple jump. In the pole vault, Skye Weyiouanna placed seventh with a height of 3.45 meters, and Brandon Kellett continued rewriting the record books in the event with a new school record height of 4.05 meters. Then, in the triple jump, Benjamin Halvorson landed in fifth with a mark of 12.40 meters. He was immediately followed by Kaesermann, who placed in sixth with a 12.10 meter distance. Austin Skaden rounded out the scoring in the event, as his jump of 11.63 meters placed him in eighth.

Similarly to the women, the men saw plenty of success in setting personal records during the weekend. Kaesermann saw two personal bests be set, with a 6.07 meter mark in long jump, and a 9.29 second time in the 60-meter hurdles. James Younge and Tanner Rosenthal also saw two personal records each on the weekend in the mile and the 3000-meter. Younge finished with a time of 4:46.89 in the mile, and a 9:37.64 in the 3000-meter. Meanwhile, Rosenthal ran a 5:07.19 mile, with a 10:21.63 3000-meter. Austin Skaden improved his 60-meter dash time to 7.64 on Friday, and August Weinstein's 17:36.89 was also a personal best in the 5000-meter run. As mentioned earlier, Skye Weyiouanna reached a height of 3.45 meters in the pole vault, which set a new personal record, and Kellett also set a new personal record with his school record breaking jump of 4.05 meters. To round out the personal records for the Vikings, two freshmen, Ben Matzke and Jose Bolanos Talbot, set new personal records. Matzke's 2:03.15 in the 800-meter and Bolanos Talbot's 24.77 in the 200-meter dash were both PR setting times.

Coach Dom Santina had this to say about the championship meet, "A really strong effort from everyone. We all laid it out there. Some things went our way, some things didn't, but a lot of strong performances. A good building step for us heading into outdoor."

This meet concluded the indoor season for the Vikings, ending the meet on a high note with 23 PRs, which was the most records set in a meet this season. The Vikings now wait until March 28 for their next meet, as they will kick off the outdoor season at the CSB/SJU Optimistic Invitational at Saint John's University.
