Vikings stomp on Presentation 6-2

Box Score

Mankato, Minn. – The women’s soccer team defeated the Presentation Saints 6-2 in a lopsided game that favored the Vikings.

Bethany Lutheran outshot Presentation 31-8 and had a 6-2 corner kick advantage. Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) scored the first goal for the Vikings ripping one past the Saints keeper. With that goal, Pipal now holds the all-time record for most goals scored in a career. She was assisted by Anna Potz (White Bear Lake, Minn./Totino Grace). A little over a minute later Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) found the back of the net assisted by Pipal, and Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC).

Potz assisted another one, this time dishing it to Marta Faugstad (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) in the 41st minute. Before the half Presentation snuck one past Vikings keeper Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) who recorded one save on the day.

In the second half, Kristin Renner (Victoria, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) scored with help from Taylor. The Saints got a goal off a free kick, but the Vikings would not let Presentation have the last word.

At the 84:13 mark, Casey Jo Mindermann (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) booted a corner kick, with traffic in front of the net the ball slipped past the keeper for a goal. To top off a high scoring game LaPlante scored her second goal, assisted by Pipal and Hannah Spaulding (Savage, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) in the 89th minute.

The Vikings will play MN-Morris tomorrow at 2 p.m. The last time the teams met the game ended 0-0 after double overtime.
