The Viking Volleyball team had a rough game against Northwestern on Friday September 23rd, in St. Paul. BLC lost in three games of 25-15, 25-7, and 25-10.
The Eagles out hit the Vikings 41 kills, to 19 kills. Bethany Lutheran had trouble hitting around the tall and talented Northwestern offense.
Going into the next game against Crown, the team focused on working together as a unit, something they lacked when playing against the Eagles.
Bethany traveled to Crown Saturday and beat the Storm in five games, but the Vikings had trouble coming out full steam. The first game started out slow, but they managed to come back and win in a close game of 27-25. The second game, BLC came out a little stronger from the start and beat Crown 25-15. The third and fourth game, BLC let Crown back in it to win 25-23 and 25-14. The last game was back and forth point for point, but BLC was able to pull it out and win in a close 15-13.
Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) led the team with 16 kills, and Vanessa Harkins (Le Center, Minn./Le Center) added 12. Alyssa Fredrickson (Sanborn, Minn./Red Rock Central) had six serving aces for the Vikings. Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura) had 26 set assists, and Tayler Kahlow (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) had 26 digs.
The Vikings will play at home on Friday against St. Scholastica at 7 p.m.
