Vikes fall to MLC in three sets

Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany volleyball team fell to Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival Martin Luther in three sets. Each set score was the same with the Knights besting the Vikings 25-16 in the three games.
 
Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn. / Truman) led the Vikings offensively with 11 kills. She also had one solo block and one block assist. Alyssa Fredrickson (Sanborn, Minn. / Red Rock Central) put down six kills during the game. The freshman added six digs and one service ace to her stat line.
 
Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn. / Lewiston-Altura) and Allie VanHee (Madelia, Minn. / Madelia) split time as setter. Franzen had 15 set assists while VanHee had 11. Franzen and VanHee were the only other Vikings to lay down a service ace, they each had one.
 
Leading for BLC defensively was Jessi Jurries (Trimont, Minn. / Martin County West) who recorded 11 digs. The Vikings had a total of 28 kills and 22 errors. The Knights had 40 kills and only eight errors.
 
Bethany is now 3-16 overall and 2-3 in the UMAC. Next, the Vikings will play host to Northland on October 5th at 7 p.m.
