Box Score 2 ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethany's tough opening schedule continued Friday at the first day of the Hamline Tournament in St. Paul.
Last weekend at the St. Olaf/Carleton Invitational, the Vikings lost three matches to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools. In its first game Friday, Bethany faced another MIAC school in Hamline with the result being the same as those previous three contests.
The first set against the Pipers was an up and down affair. The Vikings fell behind 15-8, then went on a 12-2 run culminating with kills from
Kasslin Swenson and
Kristen Mielke to take a 20-17 lead. Later up 24-20 with a chance to close out the set, Hamline scored six straight to steal the set from the Vikings 26-24. Hamline won the next two sets 25-21 and 25-10 to win in straights.
Bethany faced a power from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in UW-River Falls in game two and fell in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 25-17.
The tournament continues Saturday with Bethany taking on Ripon at 10 a.m. and St. Catherine at 2 p.m.
