Box Score 2 MINNEAPOLIS - The Bethany volleyball team finished play Saturday at the Augsburg Volleyball Invitational and fell to both Gustavus Adolphus and Wis.-La Crosse.
The Gusties topped the Vikings in the first match of the day 25-17, 25-12, 25-20.
Jessi Jurries had 18 digs to lead Bethany and
Becca Jensen added ten.
Amanna Berthusen had seven kills with
Emily Franzen adding 21 assists.
Bethany had leads in the first two sets against Wis.-La Crosse but weren't able to hold on as they fell in straight sets 25-20, 25-20, 25-11. In the second set, Franzen started with a bang with four service aces in five attempts as the Vikings raced out to a 5-0 lead. La Crosse though retooled and took the lead at 9-8 and went on to win the set from there.
Allie Van Hee led with six kills. Franzen added 11 assists to go with her four aces and Jurries had 15 digs.
Bethany (1-7) is off until September 19 when they have their UMAC and home opener against Northland for a 7 p.m. start.
