"The game plan on the first mile to take an easy, have them all run a specific pace," commented head coach Michael Dunn. "From there, we wanted to be the hunters today. Some got antsy and wanted to start faster, but they stuck with the game plan. There is definitely more (firepower) inside these kids, but we don't want to do that yet. We are still one or two runners down, so we're not yet full strength but we're getting closer. I'm really proud of what we saw today."
Senior Stefan Prince (Prior Lake) was the top Vikings finisher as he took second with his time of 29:36.3.
"I am proud of Stefan's finish," noted Dunn. "It's good to see guts in the last 100-200 meters, but it's even better to see it in an entire race. He stayed controlled, I know he wanted to go faster in that first mile and finish faster overall."
Two teammates joined him in the top 10 as junior Benjamin Tweit (Madison, Wis.) and sophomore Anthony Knode (Plymouth, Minn.) placed sixth and eighth, respectively.
