ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Council of Presidents and Chancellors supported a recommendation from the UMAC Council of Athletics Directors to commence sports competition in all regular fall sports offerings in accordance with the approved COVID-related conference protocols for the 2021-2022 academic year.
 
The protocols supported by the UMAC governance councils aim to mitigate health and safety risks. Member institutions are required to follow and adhere to state and local health requirements related to COVID-19 and are encouraged to consider any guidance and recommendations from such health authorities as well as guidance from the NCAA Sports Science Institute (SSI) as established in the Resocialization of Collegiate Sport: 2021 Fall Training and Competition.
 
Conference teams, officials and guests must follow institutional masking and spectator policies. Decisions related to masking and spectators remain at the discretion of each institution including masking requirements, capacity numbers, vaccination status and physical distancing requirements. The UMAC continues to monitor changing circumstances related to COVID-19. Any further decisions for 2021-2022 made by conference governance groups will continue to be driven by available guidance from local and state health officials and the NCAA SSI and are subject to change.
