Volleyball Aims to Bounce Back with a Pair of Weekend Matches

MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team will look to right the ship this weekend as they travel to Crown and Minnesota-Morris for a pair of contests. The Vikings (3-13, 1-4 UMAC) will take on the Polars (2-14, 0-5 UMAC) Friday at 7 p.m. before facing off with the Cougars (5-11, 2-3 UMAC) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Bethany Lutheran
The Vikings enter the weekend most recently suffering a 3-2 loss to North Central on Tuesday. Alexis Morsching had a strong match with 15 kills, and currently leads the team with 142 kills through 16 matches. Rilee Hohbein is second on the team with 90 kills, while Maddie Meyer has a team-best .245 attack percentage and boasts 83 kills on the year. Esther Peeters has been the teams top distributor thus far with 173 set assists, while Maddi Wendland has served as the teams libero and has 213 digs. 

Crown
The Polars enter Friday's matchup most recently falling to Hamline 3-0 on Wednesday. Through 16 matches Hailey Klein leads the attack with 96 kills while Ashley Earick has 65. Shaelyn McNeil has functioned as the teams primary setter, dishing out 123 assists, while Sage Johnston has led the back row with145 digs. 

UM-Morris
The Cougars are most recently coming off a loss to Northland 3-1 on Saturday. Through 16 matches Maggie Jones leads the team with 116 kills, while Laura Wellbrock has supplemented the attack with 100. Jones has also been strong on defense, with 58 blocks which is the second most in the UMAC. McKenzie Newton has been the primary setter for Morris, dishing out 419 assists, while Alyssa Ukestad has 258 digs.
