Men's and Women's Soccer Set to Battle UW-Superior Saturday

MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's and women's soccer teams will play host to UW-Superior on Saturday with both matchups featuring the top two teams in the UMAC standings. The women's game will kick off at 1 p.m. while the men will begin play at 3:30.

In the UMAC
The Bethany Lutheran women currently sit in a tie with UW-Superior for first place in the UMAC with 24 points as both teams are 8-1. The Yellowjackets hold the tiebreaker over BLC as they defeated the Vikings earlier in the season.

On the men's side the Vikings are currently at 25 points in the standings thanks to an 8-0-1 record, while the Yellowjackets are at 24 with an 8-1 record and their only blemish being a loss to BLC earlier in the year.

UW-Superior Women
The Vikings and Yellowjackets will match up for the 25th time on Saturday with the Yellowjackets holding a 13-8-3 advantage and winning the past seven matchups.

Bethany got a break last Wednesday when the UWS women lost to Northwestern to give the Vikings control of their own destiny for the rest of the season. Through 13 matches this year the Yellowjackets have been led offensively by 2021 UMAC Player of the Year Niya Wilson who has 14 goals and five assists for 33 points. UW-Superior has also gotten a big contribution from Mya Holmquist this year, as she has scored 10 goals and dished out seven assists for 27 total points. Net duties have been split evenly this year with Quinn Clark and Jenna Lang each playing in seven games. Clark has posted a save percentage of .750 in her starts while Lang has a mark of .769.

UW-Superior Men
Saturday contest will mark the 25th all-time matchup between the men's programs as well with UWS holding an 18-4-2 advantage. The Vikings will try to end a unique streak on Saturday though, as the road team has won the past five regular season matchups between the two squads.

Through 14 matches the Yellowjackets have been led by the duo of Jake Kidd (11 g, 4a) and Josh Bellamy (8g, 7a) who have tallied 26 and 23 points, respectively. They have also gotten contributions elsewhere, as 21 total players have tallied a point thus far for UWS. In net, they will rely on Alex Paredes who has been strong in net, allowing just seven goals while making 40 saves for a .851 save percentage.
