MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany men's soccer rolled to a dominant 4-0 win over UM-Morris on Tuesday night, securing the series sweep while improving to 9-5-2 overall and 9-1-0 in the UMAC.
The Vikings maintained possession for a majority of the game, out-shooting the Cougars 20-3 overall and 11-3 on goal. Diogo Cavalcanti tallied his fifth goal of the season in the 16th minute for the game-winner. Vincent Oliveira then posted his fourth goal of the year in the 37th minute and the Vikings held a 2-0 lead at half.
Nearly three minutes into the second half, the Vikings took advantage of a foul in the box as Jamie van Wijland scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick. And in the 76th minute, Santiago Rios connected with Gijs van Eldik for his fifth goal of the season.
Daniel Hughes earned his third clean sheet of the season after making three saves.
Bethany continues conference play at home Saturday afternoon against North Central.
