NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethany men's and women's cross country teams started their season Friday evening at the St. Olaf Ole Opener.
Andreas Guessregen led the Viking men with a time of 17:13.1 in the 5k race, finishing 44th. James Younge took 65th in 18:04.2 and Tanner Rosenthal placed 81st in 19:03.2.
Campbell Amundson paced the women's squad, taking 48th place in 21:26.9. Anna Schwartz finished 72nd in 22:57.8, Taryn Zellmann took 78th in 25:34.1, and Gracelyn placed 85th in 32:08.7.
"It was a good opening meet," said Head Coach Dominic Santina. "Taryn and James saw significant improvement in their 5k times. Campbell, Anna, Gracelyn, Andreas and Tanner all had solid opening races on a hilly course."
The Vikings are off until Sept. 13 when they race at the NIACC Trent Smith Invitational in Mason City, Iowa.
