DUBUQUE, Iowa - For the second consecutive game, the Bethany men's soccer team ended its match in a draw, this time 3-3 at the University of Dubuque on Friday afternoon. The Vikings move to 0-3-2 overall.Â
Dubuque struck first with a goal at the 20:50 mark and went up 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Rodrigo Cardoso got the Vikings on the board at the 39:27 mark with the help of Goncalo Nolasco and the score remained 2-1 in favor of the home team at half. Bethany held a 9-6 advantage in total shots after the first 45 minutes, but Dubuque was up 6-4 shots on goal.Â
Santiago Rios found Diogo Cacalcanti in the 68th minute for the equalizer, but the Spartans went back ahead just 94 seconds later. With just over 10 minutes remaining in the match, Migual Goncalves netted the equalizer and neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.Â
Bethany outshot Dubuque 16-13 overall with the Spartans leading 10-8 shots on goal. Daniel Hughes made seven saves for the Vikings.Â
Bethany will stay in Dubuque and face Loras at 3 p.m. tomorrow to wrap up a stretch of six non-conference games to start the season.Â
