NEW ULM, Minn. - Bethany volleyball extended its winning streak to six matches Tuesday with a dominant 3-0 sweep at Martin Luther in the conference opener. The Vikings improve to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in the UMAC, having won nine of their last 10 matches.Â
Bethany claimed the first two points of the opening set and never gave up the lead. A kill by Marti Jacobson sparked a run of seven straight points to close out the frame 25-14.Â
Once again, the Vikings earned the first couple points in the second and never trailed, highlighted by 13 straight points with Abby Distad on the serve. Bethany rolled to a 25-8 decision in the second.Â
The visitors never trailed, again, in the third and final set, going up 6-1 and never looked back in a 25-19 victory.Â
Lilly Mehrkens led the offense with seven kills. Distad dished out 30 assists and Kylie Smidt dug out 15 attacks. The Vikings hit at a .236 rate and held the Knights to a -.053 percentage.Â
Bethany returns home Friday night to face UM-Morris.Â
