MANKATO, Minn. - Continuing its play against the top teams in the MIAC, the Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to St. Olaf - the 2023 Division III national champions - on Friday night at Scheels Field, dropping to 0-2-0 overall.
The Vikings struck first in the 39th minute as Guilherme Gancho connected on a penalty kick. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the home team at halftime with the Vikings holding a 4-3 edge in shots.
The Oles responded in the second, though, with the equalizer in the 48th minute and the game-winner in the 70th minute. The Oles added an insurance goal shortly after and finished the game out-shooting the Vikings 12-6. Brady Price made two saves in goal for the Vikings.
Bethany continues play against the MIAC on Sunday afternoon at Saint John's.
