Vikings drop "Dig Pink" game vs. Martin Luther

Box Score

Mankato, Minn. - It was a hard night for the Vikings as their rivals, Martin Luther, took them in three games. The Vikings were celebrating their annual support of Breast Cancer awareness in their “Dig Pink” game.

Bethany struggled to get kills in the first game, and with several service errors, the team lost 25-17. Martin Luther found the holes in Bethany’s defense and managed to put the ball down. Nicole Jones (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato east) played a scrappy game for the Vikings, leading the team with 12 digs.

Kerri Jones (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) once again had a good serving run getting another two aces for the Vikings at crucial times, and helped pick up morale on the court. Laura Holt (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) also contributed offensively scoring nine kills for the Vikings.

The second game the Vikings lacked the communication they normally display on the court and lost 25-14. The team finally started coming back together in the third game, but still fell 25-20.

It was a disappointing match for fans and players, but the team will come ready to play this Friday at 7 p.m. against Minnesota Morris at home.
