Mankato, Minn. - The Bethany men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 loss to Gustavus on Tuesday night in a non-conference game. Home field advantage wasn't enough to save the boys from the crisp touches and quick passes the Gusties delivered. 

The Vikings were out-shot 30-5 with their only goal coming from a penalty kick in the first minute of the game. Senior Felipe Ortega (Worthington, Minn./Worthington) fired the shot, their goalie blocked it but wasn't able to hang on to the ball. Ortega was right there for the rebound and put one in for the Vikings.

However, the Gusties answered right back in the 19th minute. After that, the goals kept coming. Vikings were down 2-1 at halftime, with three more Gustie goals scored in the second half. One was off a penalty kick due to a sacrifice made by Viking Chris Hansen who received a red card for blocking a shot by Gustavus with his hands.

The boys are looking to have better luck this Friday as they travel to Northwestern for a 4 p.m. conference game.
