Minneapolis, Minn. – Over the weekend road trip the men’s soccer team split games between Northwestern and North Central. The Vikings fell to the Eagles 0-3 and then defeated the Rams 2-0.
Bethany was outshot five to eight against the Northwestern Eagles. All five of BLC’s shots were on goal; five of Northwestern’s shots were also on goal. Bethany had the corner kick advantage taking six, while the Eagles only had one corner kick.
Noah Heidorn (Fergus Falls, Minn. / Fergus Falls) was in goal recording one save in his 84 minutes. Nicholas Bera (Albert Lea, Minn. / Albert Lea) came in as keeper for the remaining time.
The Vikings came back to defeat the North Central Rams a day later. BLC outshot North Central 21 to one, 12 of Bethany’s shots were on goal. In the 34th minute Joseph Perez (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Fountain Ft. Carson) scored his eighth goal of the season. Eric DeBruzzi (Carlisle, Mass. / Concord Carlisle) got the assist. The Viking wasted no time to get back on offense. Ryan Behmer (Maple Grove, Minn. / West Lutheran) scored a security goal at the 36:30 mark. Bethany took nine corner kicks while North Central had none.
Ryan Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Fountain Fort Carson) recorded the win and the shutout. He played keeper all 90 minutes and had one save.
Bethany is 8-9-1 overall and 7-4-1 in the conference. The Vikings are currently fourth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference standings. BLC will round out the regular season at home playing on October 26th versus North Central, and then hosting St. Scholastica on October 27th.
