Men's soccer edged out in aggressive match-up

Mankato, Minn. – The Viking men’s soccer team lost a hard fought battle with the Minnesota-Morris Cougars at home. Bethany fell 1-0.
 
The score remained 0-0 until the 67th minute when a Cougar slipped one past keeper Ryan Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Fountain Fort Carson). Bolte recorded nine saves during the game.
 
The Vikings had 13 shots, four of which were on goal during the 90 minutes. The Cougars had 17 shots, 10 were on goal. Each team had 14 fouls in the aggressive game. MN-Morris had two players receive yellow cards while Bethany had one.
 
In the first period MN-Morris had the edge with 13 shots compared to Bethany’s five. In the second half, despite the Cougar’s goal, Bethany outplayed their opponent getting off eight shots compared to the Cougar’s four. MN-Morris had a slight corner kick advantage with a total of six, Bethany had five.
 
The BLC men’s soccer team is now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Next, the Vikings will travel to UW-Superior on September 25th for a non-conference match-up starting at 4 p.m.
