Men's Soccer

Two in a row for the men

Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany men's soccer team was looking to make it two wins in a row as they entertained Buena Vista University in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night at the BLC Soccer Field. The Vikings held off a late charge from the Beavers to record a 2-1 victory.

The first half appeared to be headed for a scoreless game at the break. Ben Moldstad changed that though in the 43rd minute as he made a nifty one-on-one move in front of the goal and put the ball in the right side of the net for a 1-0 BLC lead. The goal was Moldstad's seventh on the season with assists from Michael Loguercio and Brady Johnson.

Adam Kluball scored his first goal of the season in the 68th minute as he rifled a one-timer high in the center of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

The Beavers wouldn't go away quietly though. Luis Salazer cut Bethany's lead in half when he scored on a header off the corner kick in the 83rd minute. BVU was close to getting the equalizer a few minutes when another header hit off the crossbar.

Both goalkeepers, BLC's Noah Heidorn and BVU's Jordan Balster made five saves.

Bethany (6-4) next hosts rival Martin Luther for a key UMAC matchup Thursday at 7 p.m.
