Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. - The Bethany Lutheran Vikings, looking to gain a higher seed in the UMAC conference tournament, took on the Northland College Lumberjacks Friday night. Bethany jumped on Northland early and never looked back, earning themselves a 5-1 conference win.
Bethany goalkeeper Ryan Bolte recorded two early saves for the Vikings in the fourth minute, keeping the Lumberjacks from gaining the early lead. Shortly thereafter, Benjamin Moldstad recorded his ninth goal of the season for BLC in the 11th minute. Keeping the momentum rolling, freshman
Brady Johnson set up Moldstad for his second goal of the game in the 15th minute to give Bethany a 2-0 early lead. Neither team was able to score again in the first half, but Bethany came storming out of the gates in the second half.
Austin Eliason and Jacob Friendt both scored in the 50th minute for the Vikings, within 34 seconds of each other, with Moldstad getting the assist both times. The scoring did not stop there, however, as freshman Mark Bjork was able to turn a corner kick from Jorge Perez into a 73rd minute goal to put BLC up 5-0.
Bethany was able to reel off 22 shots in the game, with a remarkable 16 of them on goal.
The Viking's final regular season game will be played Saturday against the UMAC leaders St. Scholastica in Duluth at 2:15 p.m.
