Vikings drop first match of season

Box Score NORTHFIELD, Minn. - After three road wins to start the season, the Bethany men's soccer team faced another road test against MIAC foe Carleton. The Knights scored early and often and gave the Vikings their first defeat of the season in a 5-0 decision.

Carleton got on the scoreboard in the game's fourth minute with a Will Corcoran goal. Neil Bartholomay scored twice as the Knights scored all five of their goals in the first half.

Bethany goalkeeper Noah Heidorn did all he could to keep his team in the game. He faced 39 shots with 14 being on goal. Heidorn accounted for nine saves. Bethany took four shots with three on goal.

The Vikings (3-1, 2-0 UMAC) will play in front of their home fans for the first time this season on Friday when they entertain Crown at 2 p.m.
