Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany volleyball team played their first home match in nearly three weeks Wednesday night against Martin Luther for a UMAC contest. After a sluggish start, the Vikings picked it up late, but fell to the Knights three sets to one (25-16, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22).
Caitlin Decker led BLC in kills with 14.
Emily Franzen had 30 assists while
Jessi Jurries had 19 digs.
The match looked like it was going to be a sweep for Martin Luther before Bethany began making a comeback. Down 16-11, the Vikings rattled off three straight points ending in a kill from
Amanna Berthusen. Later down 19-15, Bethany went on a six-point spurt to go up 21-19 culminating with a couple of kills from
Allie Van Hee. Now up 24-23, Bethany ended the comeback with a kill from Decker to win the set.
The fourth set remained tight throughout. Tied at 19, Martin Luther began to break away and ended the match with a 6-3 run to win in four.
Bethany (4-12, 3-4 in UMAC) next plays Friday at home against Crown at 7 p.m.
