Men's Soccer UMAC Tournament to Begin Monday

UMAC Men's Soccer Tournament WebsiteST. PAUL - The 2015 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament will get underway on Monday, November 2 with the opening round contest of the five-team single elimination tournament scheduled for 2 p.m. at North Central University.
In Monday's opening round contest the tournament's number four seed, North Central, will host fifth-seeded Bethany Lutheran College in Minneapolis at 2 p.m. The Rams posted a conference record of 4-5-1 this season while the Vikings enter the tournament with a UMAC record of 4-4-2. North Central's goalkeeper Andrew Eliason currently leads the league in save percentage and is top five in goals against and goals against average. In the previous regular season match-ups between the two squads this year, the Rams were victorious by scores of 2-1 and 3-1.
On Wednesday, November 4 the first semifinal matchup will take place at the home of the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 2 p.m. The Yellowjackets, who were 8-2 in conference play this season, will host third-seeded University of Minnesota Morris who claimed a 5-4-1 UMAC record. Keep an eye on goalkeeper Ben Wilhelm for UW-Superior who is second in both goals against and goals against average in the UMAC individual standings this season. Wednesday's semifinal game will mark the second time the two teams will meet this year. In the first meeting the Yellowjackets shutout the Cougars 3-0.
At the same time, the tournament's top seed and the 2015 UMAC regular season champions, the College of St. Scholastica will host the winner of Monday's 4/5 seed matchup at Saints Field. The contest will feature the league's top offensive weapons as the St. Scholastica group of Kyle Farrar, Tom Corcoran, Jonny Harkin, and Shawayne Folkes rank as the top four in goals scored this season. The Saints went undefeated in conference play this year posting a 10-0 record.
The semifinal winners will advance to Saturday's UMAC Tournament Championship game which will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed at 2 p.m. The league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament will be awarded to the 2015 UMAC Men's Soccer Tournament Champion.
