BECKER, Minn. - The Bethany men's golf team is in third place at the UMAC Championships after Thursday's first round, played at Pebble Creek. The Vikings shot a 21-over par 309 and are eight strokes behind the leader UW-Superior. The Bethany women competed with three individuals.Â
Keaton Ginter paced the Viking men with a two-over par 74, highlighted by three birdies throughout the round, and is in third place out of 35 golfers. Ginter is three strokes behind the leader Andrew Slatten of Superior. Tyson Wicklund is in fourth place, just one stroke behind Ginter. August Waxin and Julian Bhardwaj both shot an 80 and are tied for 13th, while Victor Geijerman carded an 82 and is in 18th place.Â
Lydia Schmid led the women's squad with a 96 and is in 15th place. Flora Wegner shot a 101 and is in 17th place, and Kennedy Halper is in 30th with a 130.Â
Round two of the UMAC Championships is Friday.Â
