ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethany junior Jamie van Wijland (Hoorn, Netherlands) has been named UMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This marks van Wijland's third weekly honor from the UMAC this season. 

van Wijland helped Bethany go 2-0 during the week with shutout wins over UM-Morris (4-0) and North Central (1-0). Against the Cougars, van Wijland scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick while limiting the opposition to just three shots. And against the Rams, van Wijland and the defense allowed just one shot on goal.
