SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Bethany men's and women's golf teams competed at the Twin Ports Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Nemadji Golf Course. The Viking men finished in third place out of 13 teams with a two-round total of 300-301-601, while the Viking women took sixth out of eight teams at 418-413-831.
Keaton Ginter led the men's squad, taking second place individually with a score of even-par 71-73-144. Ginter was two strokes behind the winner Andrew Slatten of UW-Superior. Ginter's first round featured five birdies and he finished with six over the two-day event.
Anthony Nicolai and August Waxin tied for 14th with scores of 77-75-152 and 75-77-152, respectively. Julian Bhardwaj rounded out the scoring for the Vikings, tying for 26th place at 77-80-157.
The Viking women were led by Lydia Schmid, who took sixth place with an 85-84-169, which was 10 strokes behind the winner Kendall Clark of Crown. Flora Wegner tied for 22nd at 101-92-193, Kennedy Halper finished 33rd at 119-114-233, and Brianna Lienig took 36th at 113-123-236.
Bethany is back on the course Thursday for the UMAC Preview at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn.
