ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethany seniors Katelynn Bills (Brandon, S.D.) and Elena Luján Rubio (Alborache, Spain) have been named UMAC Women's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is Bills' first weekly honor this season while Luján Rubio has been recognized three times.
Bills played in key role in Bethany going 2-0 during the week with decisive wins over UM-Morris (4-1) and North Central (9-1). Bills played all 90 minutes in both games, limiting opponents to one goal per game and 11 total shots on goal.
Luján Rubio set the Bethany women's soccer program record for career points after a four-goal, one-assist performance in a 9-1 win over North Central on Saturday. Luján Rubio passed Madison Perry (2017-21) for most career points in program history, now with 140 points on 56 goals and 28 assists. Luján Rubio started the week with three goals in a 4-1 win over UM-Morris on Tuesday. She finished the week with seven goals and an assist for 15 points. Luján Rubio leads the UMAC with a career-high 19 goals and 46 points this season, including four hat tricks.
