Derek Laliberte made an immediate impact on Bethany soccer during his two seasons with the Vikings in 1998 and 1999. Named team captain both years, he led by example on and off the field, finishing his Bethany career with 37 goals and 19 assists. His scoring touch and leadership earned him back-to-back All-MCCC and All-Region XIII honors, as well as NJCAA All Region and Honorable Mention All-American recognition in his sophomore season, when he was also voted team MVP. After Bethany, Derek continued his playing career at the NCAA Division I level, starting two years at Indiana University Fort Wayne. Derek’s drive and creativity have carried into his professional life. Today he is the founder and Chief Disruptur of Disruptur, a story-driven marketing agency. His creative background includes writing, producing, and acting in more than 20 television commercials, with his work reaching national audiences. A dynamic communicator, he is also a sought-after keynote speaker at brand and marketing conventions and a frequent podcast guest, sharing insights on creativity, leadership, and brand disruption. Equally important to Derek is his commitment to faith and service. He has served on the board of Remedy Live, a nonprofit supporting individuals facing anxiety and depression, and as a ministry leader for Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program. His outreach has extended worldwide through mission trips to India and the Dominican Republic, and locally through Habitat for Humanity and video storytelling for churches. Most recently, Derek has channeled his talents into producing Passion Project videos—faith-based short films that inspire and encourage. These videos have resonated with millions, generating more than 10 million views and attracting an audience of over 120,000 followers on social media. A native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Derek now makes his home in 5 Columbia City, Indiana, with his wife, Ami, and their two children, Avery and Chase. Whether on the soccer field, in the boardroom, or through his faith-driven media work, Derek Laliberte has built a legacy of leadership, creativity, and service that continues to make an impact far beyond Bethany.Â
