Alfonso Mayfield played four seasons (2002-04 and 2005-07) for the Bethany Viking basketball team under Coaches Art Westphal and Rick Jeddeloh. Alfonso played his first two years when Bethany was still a two-year school and then came back to finish his career when Bethany became a four-year school. Mayfield was a highly decorated student-athlete earning All-American and All-Region honors three times, as well as receiving All-Conference recognition four straight years and All-Defensive honors in two seasons. He also was named to the All-National Tournament team during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons. At the time of his 2017 induction, Alfonso ranked 1st all-time in total points scored (2,252), 1st all-time in scoring average (19.6), 1st all-time in total rebounds (725), 2nd all-time in total assists (403), 2nd all-time in total steals (183), and 1st all-time in steals per game (2.1).
