Hall of Fame
From 2006 to 2010, Tommy Saffert was a cornerstone of Bethany Viking basketball. A four-year starter, he appeared in 107 games—fifth all-time in program history—and started 94 of them, ranking second all-time. His name fills the Bethany record book: second in career points scored (1,274), fifth in field goals made (422), first in three-pointers made (226), tenth in free throws (195, .806), and at the very top in both assists (420) and steals (192). His combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive tenacity made him one of the most complete players to wear the Bethany uniform. Tommy’s excellence was recognized throughout his career. He was a three-time First-Team All-UMAC selection (2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10) and earned UMAC All-Defensive Team honors in 2007–08. His senior season culminated with the conference’s highest individual honor: UMAC Player of the Year in 2009–10. A North Mankato native and graduate of Mankato West, Tommy stayed close to home for college and found more than just athletic success at Bethany. While earning his business administration degree, he met his future wife, Bri (Stockstead ’10). Today, they make their home in Becker, Minnesota, where they are raising three sons—Franklin, Griffin, and Callahan. Professionally, Tommy serves as Supply Chain Manager for Willi Hahn Corporation USA, a leading manufacturer of high-quality hand tools for trade and industrial use. On the court, Tommy Saffert distinguished himself as a leader and record setter. Off the court, he continues to build a life grounded in family, career, and the values that first took root at Bethany. Â
