Hall of Fame
Eric Schutte was a member of the Vikings baseball team from 1994-95. Schutte was on two MCCC Southern Division and NJCAA XIII Regional Championship teams, hit over .300 both years and was named MCCC All-Conference and All-Division in 1995. After Bethany, he attended Concordia University-St. Paul where he played baseball and football. On the diamond, Schutte was named conference player of the year in 1997 and was a two-time All-American. On the gridiron, he was an All-American running back and the nation's leading scorer in 1998 earning NFL tryouts with Minnesota and Pittsburgh. Schutte continued his baseball career with the Austin Mini Stars semi-pro baseball team and had a 28-year career with the Loretto Larks amateur baseball club. Schutte has been a physical education and health teacher at King of Kings Lutheran School (1999-2000 - Roseville, MN), St. Bernards High School (2000-2010 - St. Paul, MN), and since 2010 at Community of Peace Academy (St. Paul, MN). At Concordia Academy High School in Roseville, MN, he has coached basketball since 2003 and baseball since 2004 for the Beacons. His coaching accolades include being named Section 4AA Coach of the Year five times in basketball with two appearances in the Minnesota State Basketball Tournaments and has 300 wins.
Eric holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Concordia University-St. Paul. He makes his home in Woodbury, MN, with his wife Amy and three sons, Tyler, Caleb, and Austin. He has been an active coach for all of his sons’ youth sports teams. He is a member of Emmanuel Lutheran in Inver Grove Heights, MN.
