Ron Roehl

During his time at Bethany Lutheran College Ron Roehl was a four sport athlete competing in basketball, baseball, golf, and track from 1952-54.  Ron played forward on the basketball team averaging 22 points per game and totaled a team record 533 career points.  He was selected as the captain of the 1952 – 53 squad while also being recognized as an all conference performer and a junior college All American.  In addition Ron played pitcher and shortstop for the baseball team and set a conference record in the 100 yard dash in track in 1954.

 

Ron stayed very active in athletics once he left Bethany.  He has had coaching stops at: Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1956 – 1959 where he coached football, basketball and track; and Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  At Immanuel Lutheran College Ron coached track for his first three years in the high school department, he then coached baseball for twenty three years in the high school department taking a team to the Wisconsin State High School tournament and finishing second there.  Ron was instrumental in starting the Lowes Creek Little League in Eau Claire.  Ron also coached basketball for a total of 38 years in both the high school and college departments at Immanuel.

 

In addition to his coaching endeavors Ron was busy in his professional life as well doing everything from starting an Evangelical Lutheran Synod elementary school in Granada Hills, California to serving as Moderator for Conventions of the Church of the Lutheran Confession for twenty years.  His service also includes: being a church officer at Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, fifteen years as the registrar and twenty one years as the Dean of Students at Immanuel Lutheran College before retiring in May of 2007 after fifty three years in the teaching ministry.

 

Ron’s four children followed him into Christian service with one becoming a pastor, two as Lutheran High School teachers, and one becoming a Christian counselor.  Ron and his wife Eunice live in Eau Claire.
